Everything I do is yoga.

Yoga is balance, not just of body but of mind, and of the world around us.  I first began yoga in 2010, and fell in love with its spiritual and emotional aspects.  Through yoga, I have gained a greater awareness of myself and my connections to everything around me.  It has provided balance not just to my physical self, but to my mental and spiritual self as well.  It has infused every aspect of my life, and in addition to the physical benefits, yoga has given me better decision making skills by increasing my understanding of how all things are connected.  What started as fitness has become a way of life.

As a yoga instructor, I have seen the reluctant become devoted, and the unwilling-to-try become the unwilling-to-quit.  Yoga has changed my life, and it is my hope to help others accomplish the same thing for themselves.

I have been a certified instructor in the Vedic tradition of Hatha yoga since 2012.  My training was through Balanced Rock’s WildYoga Program, certified by Yoga Alliance. I was among the first class of instructors to attend and complete the Trauma Informed Yoga Certification through the University of California Merced.

In addition, I am a local artist, advocate, and most recently, author. Along with Oscar Torres, local philanthropist, artist, and business co owner of J & R Tacos, our current project of bringing to life the children’s book, An Artist Named Lucia is now a reality. Not only is this book based on a 5-year-old child, but the intention of the book is to inspire children age 0-5 to find their creative voice. The book takes our reader on a journey from the literal to the abstract. As Lucia creates what she sees, readers can experience the creative process right alongside her. We were inspired by Lucia and the children of Merced, which is why the book is written in English with Spanish translation included on each page. The illustrations of this book beautifully depict the diversity within our community. We firmly believe in the empowerment and emotional development of the children of our community and believe this book can be a helpful instrument in that process.
